Living life or your resume? Part 2

On July 23 I published a blog post Are You Living a Life or Your Resume?  I suggest you read (or hopefully re-read) that post first so the rest of this makes sense.

This week my husband Richard Goeglein got a clear message as to which he has done over the last 50 years of his executive career.  As you begin this work week, imagine what and how you would interact with those in your business to receive the gift of an email such as the one Richard received.

Dr. Success Challenge:  Whatever you imagined as you thought of your interactions with those in your business world this week, do it!  Then read the message below.

Hi Richard,

I ran across your name and just wanted to say hello. I was working at Lachman Rose in San Antonio in 1976 when I was invited by you to come to New York and interview for the job of Sales Manager at Elmex (sister company) in Cincinnati. Our meeting and your guidance really put my career on the right path. Although the Toy Industry was a rough ride our meeting was the path to success.

I was not sure if you would remember such an insignificant event but it made a big impression on me for young man from Texas.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Michael

I am here to tell you author Mark Albion is right, a message such as the one Richard received is worth More Than Money.  For those of you who are wondering, no, Richard did not remember that particular incident but you can bet he has been remembering how incredible it feels to know how his words helped Michael for all the years of Michael’s career.

  1. It warmed my heart to hear of the letter Richard received. We truly never know how our words, attitudes, and actions influence others. Thanks for sharing, and reminding me that nothing we do with good intention is ever insignificant.
