To tweet or not to tweet AGAIN

Again, like so many business people, I am in a dither about Twitter and faced with the question: To tweet or not to tweet.

When I first wrote about this in 2009, I ended my post with a T. Boone Picken’s suggestion of spending my time developing relationships that are a foot wide, but a mile deep. That is exactly what I did until I attended a recent Berrett-Koehler Author Co-op Marketing meeting when several statements grabbed my attentions:

“All media is social.”

“Start with following 100 influencers in your field or business of interest.”

“How do you measure success for your business?”

For me and my business, social media connections on Twitter were just the opposite of Picken’s suggestion. My Twitter connections tended to be a mile wide and have no depth at all. Becoming aware of the statements above allowed me to shift my perspective and develop a clear goal.

Goal: Accept that all media is social and stay focused on 100 influencers who I learn from and from whom I can teach others to be successful.

My success is in service of your success. How do you measure success for your business?

P.S. to my dear BK Author Co-op community if you know who said the statements above, please let me know so I can cite them appropriately.
